TENS
Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation
TENS uses a low voltage current to treat pain by blocking the nerve signals sending pain, as well as by releasing endorphins which are the body's natural pain killers. Devices using these currents are smaller and typically available in portable and rechargeable models.
The uses for TENS are wide, including (but not limited to) chronic pain in the back and neck, joint osteoarthritis, acute muscle strains, tendinitis, fibromyalgia, and even after surgery to manage pain symptoms. TENS is a drug free and non-addictive form of relief, allowing users to reduce reliance on pain medications.
